HOLZMA scores high as systems supplier

The focus of Holz-Handwerk in Nuremberg was on solutions for more efficient production processes. As a systems supplier dealing with all aspects of panel sizing, HOLZMA scored high with a number of innovations in this context – starting with the new 2 series, continuing with saw-store systems designed especially for the trade sector and culminating in the concept of the “grow-as-you-go saw”.

The new 2 series

With the launch of their new 2 series the German company showed that they are consistently implementing their modular concept and are hence able to offer a high level of customisation for their smallest series too. This is true of the new HPP 230 and even more so of the HPP 250, which now comes with a significantly wider range of optional extras. Both models also feature an attractive new design.

The HPP 250 profiLine, presented to the professional public for the first time at Nuremberg, represents an abundance of possibilities for adapting to increased demands that is quite incredible in this compact class. The new top model of the 2 series allows complex storage system integration, making it the right answer to the growing demand for automation in the trade sector.

Saw-store combinations for the trade sector

At Holz-Handwerk, the HPP 250 profiLine was shown in combination with the BARGSTEDT TLF 210 storage system, which was designed specifically for small and medium-sized enterprises. Both machines are from the HOMAG Group and are completely compatible in terms of both software and hardware. The big advantage for the customer is that with HOLZMA or BARGSTEDT they have just one general contractor who plans and implements the entire saw-store combination to the given requirements. The result is a comprehensive package solution for all tasks from design to production – with precisely coordinated processes for automated manufacturing and very impressive cost-benefit ratio.

The saw-store combination of HPP 250 and TLF 210 exhibited at Nuremberg pays off for businesses processing just 30 randomly stacked panels a day. A quantity that even small businesses soon reach today. Furthermore, automated panel handling ensures better organisation, improved transparency and smoother production processes. It saves time and provides increased flexibility in cutting. This is particularly important for expanding craft enterprises. It often takes a long time until their customers decide on an offer, but, once they have placed their order, they would like delivery as soon as possible.

New: panel labelling system and feed-stacking table with integrated infeed

HOLZMA has developed this panel labelling system for companies that are looking for greater speed and flexibility. It labels the panel before it is cut. The label contains all the information required for subsequent parts identification, ensuring even faster production processes. Working independently of the saw, the panel labelling system allows previously unused non-productive time to be put to good use for advance labelling and stacking. The panel labelling system is available as an add-on stand-alone solution for all HOLZMA saws and is very easy to retrofit.

This increase in efficiency can be further boosted in combination with the feed-stacking table with integrated infeed, another new development from HOLZMA. It works on the following principle: while the saw, if linked to a simple storage system, has to stop working briefly when a panel is fed by the overhead system, this solution allows it to work without unterruption, with practically no idle time. The panel is placed on the feed-stacking table and then fed to the saw.

In combination, these two new developments are particularly compact and efficient. The panel labelling system can be erected above the feed-stacking table. The panel is deposited on the feed-stacking table, labelled and then automatically transported to the rear machine table of the saw. The saw’s program fence, which is equipped with clamps that can be raised and lowered, then moves to behind the panel and fetches it just in time for cutting. This solution is available and retrofittable for all profiLine saws of the series 2 to 5.

'Grow-as-you-go' saw

Under the catchword “grow-as-you-go saw”, HOLZMA offers their customers a comprehensive modular system with needs-based, mostly retrofittable technologies for all requirements – from software to feeding and cutting in the saw to destacking.

At the fair, HOLZMA showcased various expansion possibilities on an HPP 380 profiLine. The saw was equipped with complementary technologies such as “Easy2Feed”, a lift table integrated in the rear area of the saw. Power Concept was another example of retrofittable technologies that increase cutting performance by up to 40%. Automatic labelling at the pressure beam demonstrated possible improvements in structuring processes, and the parts buffer was an example for smooth work flow in the area of destacking through to forwarding the finished parts to the next processing stations.

This host of options for customised performance enhancement of the saw and improvement of organisational processes within the company require detailed planning and advice. As partner and solutions provider for wood processing, HOLZMA offers expert advice and assistance to their customers.
