The society needs a car so that the hard workers at "Herz für demente Menschen" can reach those they care for more quickly and drive them where they need to go. The HOLZMA 2009 Christmas donation brings this a step closer. Brigitte Schneider and Angelika Gfrörer were delighted to accept the cheque at the HOLZMA Christmas party.
The society "Ein Herz für demente Menschen" provides an open day-care centre in Heumaden for all senior citizens. Games, conversation, aerobics, brain training and much more are all on offer. "We want to supplement and relieve the burden of family care" according to chairwoman Brigitte Schneider. The society also organises conversation groups and other advice services for relatives. This is not a small, sterile environment, but a cosy atmosphere designed to help guests feel at home. The style of the living rooms and communal areas were carefully chosen to reflect this.
Experts with personal experience of the difficulties and people close to Brigitte Schneider and Angelika Gfrörer founded the society on 11/05/2007. In their speech to the HOLZMA workforce, they emphasised how their heart and soul had gone into the project. They were full of energy and, in just a few sentences, it was clear that the society and these women have plenty more still to give. The project continues, one step at a time and always focused on their main objective of providing a round-the-clock-care community for people with dementia in the Calw region.
HOLZMA Managing Director Eckhard Hörner-Marass explains why this very young organisation was chosen year: "The courage to set up such an organisation from nothing really impressed us. Anyone who can be so selfless and pragmatic for their fellow human beings – even if based on personal motivation – deserves our support."
